This is your birth and I am here to support your choices. I help you get the information you need to make informed decisions, and I support the decisions you make.

I work with you to define your birth goals and preferences, and I will be your advocate making sure that everyone in the room knows what you want. I never speak for you or make decisions for you, but I can ask if you would like a moment to think about your options so you can have the time and space to make decisions.

It can feel strange to let a stranger into the scared space of your birth. I work with you over the course of your pregnancy and in our prenatal visits to build a connection and a bond with you so that I can get to know your likes/dislikes, preferences, and how best to support you. I want you to feel known and cared for by someone that has taken the time to learn about you.

I don't replace partners; we work as a team. I know birth and your partner knows you. With doula support, partners get to be fully present. You decide my role in your birth. I teach partners comfort measures and techniques, take pictures of the two of you together, remind them to stay hydrated. I'm there to micromanage everything in the background so you can focus on each other and your baby's birth.

If you deliver in a hospital, you might see multiple doctor's during your pregnancy and might not have ever met the doctor and nurses on call. Having a doula, means you have a familiar face with you at birth that knows you and what you want from your birth.

I stay with you from the time you call me until you and your baby are settled after the birth.

I help manage all of the little details so you can focus on finding your rhythm, bonding with your baby and partner, and staying present. Every birth is as beautiful unique as each individual. I follow your lead. If you feel you need me hands on, I'll be there for the physical support. If you are in the zone and don't want hands on support, I can offer emotional support and word of encouragement. I'll be the quiet grounding presence making sure everything else going on around you is managed so you can relax.

My main focus is supporting you but if your birth allows it and you want pictures, I would be happy to take pictures during your labor and birth. I'm not a professional birth photographer, but I can capture the moment.
